Prices for tea reached historical maximum

The prices for tea in the world market reached historical maximum, having created threat of its shortage in connection with drought in the largest countries-manufacturers: Kenya, Sri Lanka and India. British Broadcasting Corporation informed (BBC), the agency reports citing official mass media.

Kazakhstan Today - The prices for tea in the world market reached historical maximum, having created threat of its shortage in connection with drought in the largest countries-manufacturers: Kenya, Sri Lanka and India. British Broadcasting Corporation informed (BBC), the agency reports citing official mass media.

"During the tenders on the largest world tea sale platform - in Kenyan port Mombasa, one kg of the best black BP 1 tea costs 3.7 dollars. Growth of the price since January 1, 2009 has reached 25 %. For comparison: in 2001, the market price of one kg of tea of ВР1 grade amounted to $1.75."
