Turkish pipeline exploded

The pipeline Kirkuk - Ceyhan has exploded in the southeastern Turkey, through which the country imports oil from Iraq. As a result of the accident, two people died and one person was injured, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. August 11. Kazakhstan Today - The pipeline Kirkuk - Ceyhan has exploded in the southeastern Turkey, through which the country imports oil from Iraq. As a result of the accident, two people died and one person was injured, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

According to RBC, oil deliveries through the pipeline have been temporarily stopped. According to the local mass media, the people were travelling along the pipeline in automobiles when flames spread from the pipeline and caused death of people.

The Turkish authorities consider this event as an act of terrorism organized by insurgents of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). At the moment, the Turkish law enforcement authorities are trying to detain terrorists and the fire services are liquidating the fire. The PKK fought to carve out a separate homeland for Turkey's ethnic Kurdish minority, a part of the territory of Turkey. The northern part of Iraq has been controlled by Kurds from the moment of overthrow in this country of Saddam Hussein regime in 2003.

The oil pipeline Kirkuk - Ceyhan is the largest oil pipeline of Iraq connecting the Kirkuk deposit and bulk-oil port located in the Turkish city - Ceyhan.
