Almaty. May 15. Kazakhstan Today - Energy safety in the Asian-Pacific region remains an issue of universal concern. The Secretary General assistant of the United Nations - the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP Kim Hak-Su informed today addressing the 8th session of the Special Body on Least Developed and Landlocked Developing Countries, the agency reports.
"Energy safety remains in the Asian-Pacific region an essential issue for general concern, especially in connection with the growing demand for energy in the region as well as high oil prices," Kim Hak-Su said. He emphasized, "availability of energy services is one of the conditions promoting development." He called the developed and developing countries of the region "to confirm the readiness to assist the least developed and landlocked developing countries.
