Kazakhstan as OSCE chairman to contribute to conflicts resolution

Kazakhstan as the OSCE chairman will significantly contribute to resolution of long conflicts. The OSCE chairman, the Secretary of State, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kanat Saudabaev, informed today during consultations on Dnestr settlement in '5 + 2' format, the agency reports.

Astana. May 24. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan as the OSCE chairman will significantly contribute to resolution of long conflicts. The OSCE chairman, the Secretary of State, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kanat Saudabaev, informed today during consultations on Dnestr settlement in '5 + 2' format, the agency reports.

"The consultations on Dnestr settlement in '5 + 2' format (the parties - Moldova, Dnestr region, intermediaries - OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and observers - EU and the USA) took place today in Astana under the aegis of the OSCE chairman, the Secretary of State - Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, K. Saudabaev," the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan informed.

Opening the consultations, K. Saudabaev said that resolution of the issues connected with long conflicts, especially in the CIS territory, is one of the priorities for Kazakhstan as the OSCE operating chairman. "Therefore, we would like to contribute to resolution of these situations," he underlined.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "the arrangement on carrying out of such a meeting in the capital of Kazakhstan was reached during K. Saudabaev's visit to Kishinev and Tiraspol on April 1, 2010."
