Bishkek. July 16. Kazakhstan Today - Kyrgyzstan started exporting electric power to Kazakhstan since July 14, 2008. The press secretary of Open Society Power Plant, Natalia Orlova, informed the agency.

This year, in connection with dry period, total amount of export will be minimum and will make about 500 million kW h. It became impossible to completely refuse from export of electric power abroad as it is the main source of income for purchase of fuel for Bishkek thermal power station.

According to N. Orlova, the beginning of export is connected and with irrigational needs of the adjacent states and with a conclusion in repair of the high-voltage line connecting the north and the south of Kazakhstan.

Export of electric power will be carried out under the contracts concluded between Electric stations and consumers of Kazakhstan as intergovernmental arrangements have not been reached.

Absence of intergovernmental arrangements complicates counter deliveries of fuel as the question of granting of quota on railway transportation in Kazakhstan and in this connection deliveries of coal to thermal power station of Bishkek lag behind the schedule.

Export of electric power will be prolonged up to the end of August. The price totals 4.5 cents for 1 kW h without tax to the added cost (VAT).
