The primary goal of the Caspian littoral states - to preserve the Caspian Sea for the future generations. The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, said the day before at the meeting in the Astrakhan region concerning international cooperation in the Caspian region, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

Almaty. August 19. Kazakhstan Today - The primary goal of the Caspian littoral states - to preserve the Caspian Sea for the future generations. The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, said the day before at the meeting in the Astrakhan region concerning international cooperation in the Caspian region, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

"It is in the interests of all coastal states - to work on the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea. Our primary goal - to preserve the Caspian Sea for the future generations and not to admit its ecological degradation. In particular, we need to complete the works on the protocols of the Teheran Frame Convention on Protection of the Sea Environment of the Caspian Sea," D. Medvedev said.

"We need to organize the meeting in Baku of the experts to study the five-sided cooperation agreement concerning safety of the Caspian Sea," the President of the Russian Federation noted.
