Turkish embassy to be relocated from Almaty to Astana in June

The Embassy of Turkey in Kazakhstan will be relocated from Almaty to Astana in June, 2008. The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Turkey in Kazakhstan Atilla Gunay said at the briefing after the ceremony of presentation of his credentials to the President of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

Astana. May 5. Kazakhstan Today - The Embassy of Turkey in Kazakhstan will be relocated from Almaty to Astana in June, 2008. The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Turkey in Kazakhstan Atilla Gunay said at the briefing after the ceremony of presentation of his credentials to the President of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"The Embassy of our country is in Almaty. Since June, 2008 we will work in Astana," A. Gunay informed. Thus, he informed that "construction of the building of the Embassy in Astana proceeds and will be completed in the shortest terms."

The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev noted high level of bilateral cooperation at the official ceremony. "Intensity of cooperation of top-level confirms our readiness for expansion of trade and economic relations, cooperation of small and medium enterprises, and realization of projects on Kazakhstan infrastructure development," N. Nazarbayev said.

In the opinion of the leader of the state, last year's visits of the Presidents of two countries opened new possibilities for further strengthening of communications in all spheres of Kazakhstan-Turkish relations.

According to Kazakhstan Statistics Agency, trade turnover between the countries in 2007 reached $1.9 billion, in 2006 - $906.6 million.
