United Nations and SCO signed Joint Declaration for Cooperation

The United Nations Organization (United Nations) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed the Joint Declaration for Cooperation on Monday in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the agency reports citing UzDaily.uz.

Almaty. April 6. Kazakhstan Today - The United Nations Organization (United Nations) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed the Joint Declaration for Cooperation on Monday in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the agency reports citing UzDaily.uz.

The declaration was signed by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, and the SCO Secretary General, Muratbek Imanaliev.

The declaration assumes cooperation between the organizations in different directions, including safety issues.

Ban Ki-moon noted that the partnership between the United Nations and SCO will give a new impulse, in particular, to struggle against terrorism, extremism, drugs and transboundary criminality.

The UN General Assembly passed the cooperation resolution with consensus between the United Nations Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on December 18.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was organized on June 15, 2002. Its structure includes 6 member countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan), 4 countries-observers (India, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan) and two dialogue partners (Belarus and Sri Lanka).
