Ceremony of inauguration of the newly elected president of Azerbaijan took place in Baku

The ceremony of inauguration of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, re-elected for the second term, took place today in the Palace of Geydar Aliev, the agency reports.

Baku. October 24. Kazakhstan Today - The ceremony of inauguration of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, re-elected for the second term, took place today in the Palace of Geydar Aliev, the agency reports.

During the ceremony I. Aliev took the oath on the Constitution of Azerbaijan and on the Sacred Koran to observe the Basic Law of the country, to protect independence of the territorial integrity of the Republic and to serve people.

The President of Georgia, Michael Saakashvili, the chairman of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Sergey Naryshkin, Vice Prime Minister of Turkey, Jemil Cicek, and other foreign visitors, including chairmen of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and the international organizations accredited in Azerbaijan took part in the ceremony of inauguration.

The presidential elections of Azerbaijan took place on October 15, 2008. 75.12 % of voters took part in the elections. More than 57 thousand ballots of voters in 8 polling districts out of 5359 sites were recognized void due to infringements.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, received 88.73 % of votes. The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan on October, 21 approved the results of the presidential elections. According to the Election Code, inauguration of the president will take place after the approval of the results of elections by the Constitutional Court within three days.
