Euro-2 standard to be introduced in Kazakhstan from middle of July

Euro- 2 standard will be introduced in Kazakhstan from June 15, 2009. Director of Department of Strategic Planning and Development of Transport-Communication Complex of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Bolat Zhansugurov, informed during the press conference, the agency reports.

Astana. June 19. Kazakhstan Today - Euro- 2 standard will be introduced in Kazakhstan from June 15, 2009. Director of Department of Strategic Planning and Development of Transport-Communication Complex of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Bolat Zhansugurov, informed during the press conference, the agency reports.

According to the representative of Transport Ministry, the standards will be introduced for imported cars with higher requirements to emission of harmful substances.

According to Director of the Department, as of today, the automobiles used in the Republic do not correspond to modern European requirements pertaining to toxicity of emissions.

According to Transport Ministry, with introduction of the Euro standard, import of automobiles to Kazakhstan and their manufacture, which do not correspond to these standards, will be limited. Quality of fuel will be improved. In particular, with introduction of Euro-2, import of the European automobiles older 1997 model year and with introduction of Euro-3 - older 2001 model year, will be forbidden.
