Informal summit of CIS member states leaders to take place in Moscow

The informal summit of the leaders of CIS member states, initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, is taking place on Friday, February 22, in Moscow. All of the presidents of CIS member states have confirmed their participation in the event, including the President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.

Kazakhstan Today - The informal summit of the leaders of CIS member states, initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, is taking place on Friday, February 22, in Moscow. All of the presidents of CIS member states have confirmed their participation in the event, including the President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.

As it is known, the Prime Minister of the country Serzh Sarkisyan won in the presidential elections taken place on February, 19 in Armenia. R. Kocharyan did not participate in the elections. According to the Constitution the same person cannot hold the post of the president for more than two terms successively.

Putin is expected to officially present his successor Dmitry Medvedev at the summit and will address his counterparts with the brief report of his activity on the post of the president and will thank the leaders of the states for the joined work within the limits of CIS and other organizations created on the post Soviet space, CIS Secretariat informed. The presidents of the Commonwealth will discuss the events in Kosovo.

The summit of the leaders of the states will take place in the Moscow Palace of Friendship.
