Kazakh border guards seize over 1.5 kg of heroin from Kyrgyzstan citizen

Astana. September 13. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan border guards seized over 1.5 kilograms of heroin from a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"On September 12, 2012 the border guard frontier "Karasu" of Kordai border patrol regional governance "Ontustik" of NSC Border Patrol detained a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, who was going to Kazakhstan. He crossed the state border illegally - outside the checkpoint," the border patrol informed.

According to the Border Patrol, the inspection of personal belongings of the detained the border guards found three plastic bags, wrapped in duct tape, with drugs - heroin (it was confirmed by the conducted examination) - with the total weight of 1 kilogram 538 grams.

The question of initiating the criminal case against the detainee is being considered.

The Border Patrol also reported that since the beginning of 2012 the Kazakh border guards thwarted 158 attempts to drug trafficking, the total weight of the drugs seized was more than 140 kg, of which 43.5 kg of heroin.
