Kazakh President met Federal Chancellor of Germany

Astana. January 31. Kazakhstan Today -The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the President's press service informed the agency.

According to the press service, during the meeting a broad range of questions of strengthening bilateral political, trade and economic, cultural-humanitarian cooperation has been discussed. The parties noted affinity of positions on the basic questions of global and regional policy, maintenance of the international and regional safety, European energy stability, and reformation of the United Nations.

The President of Kazakhstan wished Germany success in the EU Chairman post and within the limits of "Big eight". The Federal Chancellor noted that Germany supports Kazakhstan's candidacy for the post of the OSCE Chairman in 2009 and the aspiration of our country to enter the WTO in the near future.

"The Kazakh-German partnership is based on the solid base of economic cooperation, active political dialogue, affinity of positions on the basic questions of global and regional policy. Kazakhstan supports aspiration of Germany to hold the post of a permanent member of the UN Security Council. We are grateful to the German governing body for the support to Kazakhstan's intention to become the OSCE Chairman in 2009," the Kazakh President said at the joint press conference.

"We welcome the German business in Kazakhstan and expect its active involvement in this developing part of the world. From its part the government of Kazakhstan will render all-round support for the German companies in our Republic," he noted
