Kazakhstan Senate, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense discussed cooperation questions

The chairman of the Senate Committee for International Relations, Defense and Security Kuanysh Sultanov met the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Mitchell Shivers on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to the press service of Senate of the Parliament.

Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the Senate Committee for International Relations, Defense and Security Kuanysh Sultanov met the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Mitchell Shivers on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to the press service of Senate of the Parliament.

According to the press service, during the meeting the parties discussed the questions of further strengthening of cooperation between defense-related departments of Kazakhstan and the USA. "Noting the importance of equal in rights partnership of two countries in strengthening of peace and security in the Central Asian region, K.Sultanov said that the Senate of the Parliament supports the state strategy of development of military cooperation and in every possible way assists in growth of mutual trust in this sphere," the press service informs.

According to the press service, Mitchell Shivers, in his turn, highly estimated the role of Kazakhstan in preservation of peace and stability in the Central Asia region and expressed gratitude for contribution to successful carrying out of peacekeeping operations in the region.
