Astana. September 16. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, intends to run for presidential election in 2012. Adviser of the President on Political Affairs, Ermuhamet Ertysbaev, informed in an interview to the newspaper Freedom of Speech, the agency reports.

"The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, intends to run for presidential election of 2012," E. Ertysbaev informed.

"The President, according to the amendments to the Constitution in 2007, has the right to run for presidential election unlimited number of times," Adviser of the President said, commenting on the Law on Leader of Nation accepted in Kazakhstan.

He denied rumours that Kazakhstan may hold referendum instead of presidential elections in 2012. "There will be elections as noone can ignore the Basic Law - the Constitution."

"I think that the Law on Leader of Nation will be used in full, if the President Nazarbayev, suddenly, for some reasons, refuses to run for the forthcoming elections. I once again say that the President Nazarbayev intends to participate in elections. It is very important for him to implement the industrially-innovative program 2020. He considers this program as a core of the national idea, which should join all Kazakhstan citizens," E. Ertysbaev said.
