New regional currencies to appear in the near future

The President of Kazakhstan said the new regional currencies will appear in the near future in his speech for the students and professors of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on Tuesday, the agency reports.

Almaty. October 14. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan said the new regional currencies will appear in the near future in his speech for the students and professors of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on Tuesday, the agency reports.

"I am certain that we need to have new financial tools in order to overcome the global crisis. A qualitatively new type of world regional currencies will be introduced in the near future. Sucre - supra national electronic unit of account of the countries of the Latin America's Bolivarian alliance is planned to be introduced on January 1, 2010, " N. Nazarbayev said.

"I am sure that in the near future the world will develop the new approach to this vital issue of creation of the supra national currencies. Otherwise, the world will be facing crises again and again. If such a decision is made, it will lower frequency and seriousness of global crises in the world," he underlined.

N. Nazarbayev had earlier initiated creation of the new supra national currencies. As he said, all countries have been facing the world financial crisis and "many countries are talking about creation of their regional currency: both Latin America and the Arabian countries."

N. Nazarbayev proposed to begin the work on creation of the SCO supra national unit of account at the session of the Council of Leaders of SCO member states in June, 2009.
