President signed amendments to legislation concerning protection of child rights

The head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the law on the amendments and additions to some acts of Kazakhstan concerning protection of child rights directed at strengthening of responsibility for committing a crime against minors and acceptance of additional measures on protection of the rights and freedom of children, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

Astana. November 24. Kazakhstan Today - The head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the law on the amendments and additions to some acts of Kazakhstan concerning protection of child rights directed at strengthening of responsibility for committing a crime against minors and acceptance of additional measures on protection of the rights and freedom of children, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

As informed earlier, the amendments "toughen criminal liability of parents, teachers, and other people, entrusted by the law with responsibility to educate minors, for committing sexual crimes," the Majilis Committee for Legislation and Judicial-Legal Reform informs.

The minimum limit of punishment in the form of disqualification of teachers and other persons, entrusted by the law with responsibility to educate minors, will be raised from 3 until 10 years, to occupy certain posts or to be engaged in certain activities in case of committing of the specified category of crimes. Release-on-parole of such persons has been cancelled.
