Prime Minister assigned to accelerate realization of infrastructural projects in Mangistau oblast

During his two-day working trip to Mangistau oblast, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, gave the assignments to the corresponding ministries and departments on realization of some infrastructural and social projects in the region, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - During his two-day working trip to Mangistau oblast, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, gave the assignments to the corresponding ministries and departments on realization of some infrastructural and social projects in the region, the agency reports.

K. Masimov spoke about the necessity of acceleration of realization of the projects of reconstruction of the motorway Aktau - Atyrau on the site Beyneu - Aktau, Zhetybay - Zhanaozen - the border of Turkmenistan, the concessional projects on construction of the railway site Mangyshlak - Bautino, and the railway Zhezkazgan - Beyneu.

As informed earlier, construction of the railway Zhezkazgan - Saksaul - Shalkar - Beyneu of 1000 kilometers will cost almost $1.5 billion. Financing of construction of the road is planned to be carried out on the concessional basis.

Construction of the railroad Mangyshlak - Bautino is a concessional project. The extent of the railroad will be 135 kilometers. The cost of the project - 22.7 billion KZT. The construction is planned to be finished on April, 30th, 2010.

Realization of this project will promote development of the port Bautino to support sea operations in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea. After realization of this project, volumes of transportations of cargoes through Bautino by 2012 will increase up to 4 million tons a year.

K. Masimov emphasized the necessity of the beginning of construction of the external infrastructure of the Caspian power hub. As informed earlier, the Caspian power hub will represent the cluster of branches and services necessary for further development of the energy sector.
