UN called Kazakhstan for more effective actions for refugees' protection

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Antonio Guterres called Kazakhstan for more effective actions for protection of refugees at the briefing after the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Tuesday, the agency reports.

Astana. November 16. Kazakhstan Today - The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Antonio Guterres called Kazakhstan for more effective actions for protection of refugees at the briefing after the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Tuesday, the agency reports.

"I urged the leader of Kazakhstan for more effective actions regarding granting asylum to refugees inside of the state, involve and strengthen the actions of Kazakhstan at the international level in defining of migratory processes," A. Guterres said at the briefing.

The main goal of the visit to Kazakhstan consisted in strengthening partnership established by UNHCR and the government of Kazakhstan.

As it was informed earlier, during A. Guterres's visit to Kazakhstan the cooperation agreement between UNHCR and the government of Kazakhstan was signed.
