Yanukovych supports Nazarbayev's initiative on joining waterways

The President of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovych, supports Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative to join waterways between the Caspian and Black Seas, the agency reports citing the press service of the president of Ukraine.

Almaty. September 15. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovych, supports Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative to join waterways between the Caspian and Black Seas, the agency reports citing the press service of the president of Ukraine.

The meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and Kazakhstan took place in Kiev.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan have always had stable trade and economic relations, V. Yanukovych said, however, goods turnover, within the last few years, between our countries, has essentially decreased. In this context, he drew attention to intensification of the work of the joint intergovernmental commission.

The President of Ukraine noted mutual interest in cooperation development in fuel and energy sphere, agricultural mechanical engineering, agrarian complexes, and the sphere of space technologies.

V. Yanukovych paid attention to cooperation prospects in development of transport corridors. "We can create such a program. An important partner for us is Russia and this project may unite Europe and Asia," V. Yanukovych underlined.

The President also reminded of the initiative of Kazakhstan concerning joining of waterways between the Caspian and Black Seas. "It is a very interesting project and, of course, it has a future," the leader of Ukraine said.
