Astana. January 29. Kazakhstan Today - As of January 1, 2008 9378 HIV infected people, including 223 children have been registered in Kazakhstan. The Minister of Health Anatoly Dernovoy said during the governmental hour in the Parliament on Monday, the agency reports.

"As of January 1, 2008 with an increasing result 9378 HIV infected people, including 223 children have been registered in Kazakhstan," A. Dernovoy said.

"Now HIV/AIDS has been registered in all regions of Kazakhstan, thus, the greatest quantity of the registered cases of HIV infection is in Karaganda, South-Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Kostanay oblast and Almaty," the minister added.

Thus, he emphasized that according to "the forecast of the international experts and the World Organization of Public Health Services, forecasts in the Central Asia region for the nearest decade are not optimistic." In this connection, the ministry undertakes measures for prevention and revealing the disease.

"The situation, as a whole, under control and the undertaken measures allow controlling HIV infection rate," the Health Minister emphasized.
