Accusation pronounced verdicts for defendants of HIV infection case

Kazakhstan Today - The deputy chief of the board of supervision of legality of judicial decisions on criminal cases of the regional Office of Public Prosecutor Nurlan Saparov announced the point of view of the accusation regarding criminal punishment for the accused on the case of mass HIV infection of children at the morning session on June 8, the agency reports. Taking into account the age of Nursulu Tasmagambetova, ex-director of the regional department of public health services, and the fact that this is her first conviction, the accusation pronounced putting her on probation.

Kazakhstan Today - The deputy chief of the board of supervision of legality of judicial decisions on criminal cases of the regional Office of Public Prosecutor Nurlan Saparov announced the point of view of the accusation regarding criminal punishment for the accused on the case of mass HIV infection of children at the morning session on June 8, the agency reports.

Taking into account the age of Nursulu Tasmagambetova, ex-director of the regional department of public health services, and the fact that this is her first conviction, the accusation pronounced putting her on probation. "The accused Nursulu Tasmagambetova is pronounced to be put on probation for three years with a trial period of one year and to be withdrawn medical license for the period of three years," N. Saparov said.

The longest terms of punishment the Public Prosecutor demanded for children's hospitals chairmen. Alibek Tastanov and Asilbek Chukuyev deserve punishment of nine years of imprisonment with property confiscation. They are accused of negligence and reception of bribes. Mukhamediyar Auelbekov, Altynay Tilesova, Kuttykyz Akbolayeva and Ashat Zarifov are accused according to the same clauses. The Public Prosecutor demanded for all of them from seven and a half up to eight years of imprisonment with property confiscation.

For all accused the Public Prosecutor demanded cancellation of their medical licenses for three years.

As it was informed earlier, the judicial session on the case of mass HIV infection of children has been taking place since January 19 in Shymkent. The charges were brought against 21 people.

As of today, there are 114 HIV positive children (nine died, one has been adopted and left abroad) and 14 HIV positive mothers in the South Kazakhstan.
