Kurmanbek Bakiyev and his family left Kyrgyzstan shortly after the coup. During the riots that accompanied the rebellion, several houses were looted and one of the houses - in the ancestral village of Bakiev was burnt. Some part of the assets of the ousted president had been confiscated and nationalized by the new regime.
