The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called to create social environment to increase importance of institute of paternity, the agency reports referring to the UN news center on Friday.

Almaty. May 19. Kazakhstan Today - The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called to create social environment to increase importance of institute of paternity, the agency reports referring to the UN news center on Friday.

The Secretary General noted that traditionally in many societies fathers are viewed as mentors and supporters of a family. However, for the last years men are more and more involved in daily family cares that positively influences development of children.

Ban Ki-moon has regretfully noted that in many countries there are also those who do not carry out their fatherly duties. They destroy families; hide from payment of alimony, spread fear and by their actions cause physical and emotional traumas in their children. Often children deprived of fatherly care and warmth lag behind in studies and take the path of crime.

"All these problems testify deep and universal necessity of formation of positive image of father in a family," the UN Secretary General declared. He called men to treat the role of a father with honor and their children and wives - to respect their fathers for important contribution to family life.
