China hosts seventh summit of city mayors of Asian-Pacific region

Dushanbe. August 8. Kazakhstan Today - The seventh two-day summit of mayors of cities of Asian-Pacific region (AOR) opened today in city Urumchi - an administrative centre of the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in the northwest of China, the agency reports referring to Dushanbe hukumat (mayor office).

The Leaders of 17 countries and regions of the world including the Peoples Republic of China, South Korea, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and other states will take part in the forum.

The topic of the Summit will be Harmonious City Development. The Heads of world mega cities will discuss problems of city construction and management, the problem of the environment protection, economic and transport issues. Dushanbe will represent Vice President of the city Zokirhudzha Muhiddinov.

The Summit of mayors of the cities of AOR is held once in two years. For the first time it took place in 1994 in the Japanese city of Fukuoka. The organization includes 26 cities.
