Deputies supported to revive mountain and sports tourism in Trans-Ili Alatau
The current tourist routes do not attract lovers of mountain and sports tourism.
Mazhilis Deputy Kenes Absatirov, speaking for deputies of the Akzhol fraction, delivered a request addressed to Kazakh Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev. According to the deputies, it is necessary to revive mountain and sports tourism on the once-popular routes.
Opening the fourth session of the 6th convocation of the country's Parliament, the head of state paid special attention to tourism development, that can trigger the development of entrepreneurship. In the 'Growing Welfare of Kazakh Citizens: Increase in Income and Quality of Life' Address, the President also urged to pay special attention to the development of domestic tourism taking advantage of the country's rich natural and cultural potential. In addition, a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation in tourism was signed as part of the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.
In 2014, a request of deputies of Akzhol Democratic Party regarding the development of domestic tourism, the government put forward the improved outlook for the period until 2020. However, the majority of the tasks set were not fulfilled. Meanwhile, many Russian tourists, as well as tourists from other states, are well familiarized with a tourist potential of our state: sacral mosques of Mangystau, the Mausoleum of Khawaja Ahmed Yasawi, mountains and lakes of the Bayanaul national park, the Borovoye resort and many others. But, the strength and greatness of Trans-Ili Alatau should be particularly noted among many natural places of Kazakhstan," said Kenes Absatirov.
The Mazhilis Deputy noted that multi-day mountain routes had been designed in Almaty. In the early 1980s, around 100 tourist sections, seven tourist clubs operated in the city. The number of people engaging in tourism exceeded 213 thousand people.
The tourist routes on the northern part of Tien Shan, Trans-Ili Alatau enjoyed special popularity.
As a response to the above request, the Government intended to turn Almaty into a center of international mountain tourism. The tourist firms face difficulties to stay in the cross-border zone and to cross the state border on the way to make Kazakhstan's mountain tourism famous again, and to open new exciting routes for foreigners. For instance, the tourist firms had always raised the issue regarding crossing the state border by organized tourist groups on the once-existed routes of the northern part of Tien Shan - from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, and the journey from Almaty to the Issyk-Kul lake and back," said the deputy.
In the present year, the permission to cross the state border from Kegei (Kyrgyzstan) on the route where the road lies. However, according to the deputies, the road is a mountainous and empty area where there had never been tourist routes.
In order to reach the beginning of the route, it is necessary to spend five hours in a car with tourist equipment from Almaty, making this tour unattractive for lovers of mountain tourism. Such tours are distinguished by journeys on mountains, passing slopes and passes, staying overnight and camps on the route's way," said Kenes Absatirov.
According to the deputies, the revival of mountain and sports tourism, along with the Medeu world-known high-altitude sports complex, the Shymbulak ski resort, can turn Almaty into acentere of international mountain tourism.
It is also known that a keen interest is shown by guests from Korea, Turkey and from other states to Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, who believe Kazakhstan to be the Homeland of their ancestors, and Alatau as part of the Almai Mountains. We suppose that the promotion of this is the mentioned states, in the light of Nursultan Nazarbayev's Article "Seven Faces of the Great Steppe", can establish a constant flow of tourists on these routes. In this connection, Mr. Bakytzhan Abdirovich, the Akzhol deputy fraction asks to give government agencies to work out the problem of staying in the cross-border zone, and crossing the state border in summer time by organized tourist groups on the following routes: following the route of pioneers of Tien Shan; Kolsay Lakes, from Almaty to the Issyk-Kul lake," said kenes Absatirov.

700 pheasants released into Astana’s green belt territory

LLP Astana Ormany released 700 pheasants into the territory of ‘green belt’ of Astana, Kazinform News Agency learned from the local mayor's office.
The ‘green belt’ around the Kazakh capital became a home for various animals and bords, like hares, foxes, wolf cubs, partridges, hazelhens, and pheasants.
In 2024, we plan to release 1,800 pheasants into the wild. 700 birds have already been released, another 150 will be released in June, and 950 more - in September," local ecology official Azamat Zhanatayev says.
The birds are constantly monitored by the foresters of LLP Astana Ormany and are additionally fed in winter period.

Over 1,000 measles cases recorded in Astana since beginning of year
In three months of this year, the Kazakh capital recorded 1,063 measles cases, including 734 in children under 14, chief medical officer of Astana Sarkhat Beissenova said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to Beissenova, 84% of those infected are unvaccinated, of whom 58% did not undergo vaccination and 36.5% have the immunization status unknown.
She went on to add that a total of 114,464 people or 94.6% of the eligible population have been vaccinated as part of additional mass immunization and catch-up immunization since November last year.
The anti-epidemic measures taken led to measles cases reducing by 1.4 times in March compared to January, when the peak of measles cases was recorded, and by 1.5 times among children aged 1-4, she said.

At the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Plovdiv, the official opening of the thematic photo exhibition "Unexplored Kazakhstan" dedicated to the nature and tourism potential of our country took place on the Central Square of the city. In his welcoming speech, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria Viktor Temirbayev stressed that Kazakhstan is a country with an extremely rich history and culture, located in the heart of Eurasia, at the crossroads of the world's oldest civilizations, at the intersection of transport arteries, economic and social, cultural and ideological ties between East and West, South and North, between Europe and Asia. The Kazakh diplomat noted that all this served as a powerful foundation in the formation of modern Kazakhstan as a strong, independent and dynamically developing state.

Over 300 babies born in flood-stricken areas in Kazakhstan
325 babies were born in the regions of Kazakhstan that declared recently a local state of emergency due to flooding. 387 pregnant women are under the doctor’s care, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Most babies were born in Kostanay, Aktobe and West Kazakhstan regions since the beginning of the floods, Aigerim Urazaliyeva, the Kazakh Healthcare Ministry’s official spokesperson, said.
5,035 children from flood-hit regions are staying at temporary shelters of which 62 were taken to hospitals.
She noted over 1,000 people sought psychological assistance.
7,617 flood victims have chronic diseases. All of them are monitored by health workers, she added.

2 schools shifted to online learning amid flooding in N Kazakhstan

347 pupils of two schools switched to online learning amid flooding in North Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Schools were temporarily shifted to online teaching in Zarechnyi and Pokrovka villages as the River Yessil overflowed.
All villagers of Zarechnyi were evacuated amid flood risks. Ice jams triggered flooding in Pokrovka village leaving tens of homes on Beregovaya Street underwater.
