Kazakhstan regions with the large number of meat-lovers revealed

The large number of meat-lovers live in Atyrau region.
Over the last year, each Kazakhstan citizens on average ate 72.9kg of meat and meat products, ranking.kz reports.

According to the statistics, urban people eat meat more than rural people – 76kg a year against 69kg. And, it is only by 0.1% higher that in 2016, and by 0.9% less than in 2015.

The large number of meat-lovers of Kazakhstan live in Atyrau region, where the share per person is 85kg a year, residents of Almaty and East Kazakhstan region follow with 83.5kg and 82.6kg respectively. The lowest indicators in meat consumption are observed in South Kazakhstan region – 58.2kg per person, Kyzylorda region – 65.2kg and Aktobe region – 67.4kg.

Among all types of meat and meat products, beef was the most common in 2017 (on average 23.9kg per person). It was followed by lamb – 6.3kg and minced meat – 6.1kg.

The average citizens consumed 25.7kg of the most popular type of beef a year, it was followed by minced meat – 7.4kg and chicken meat 4.4kg.

In rural area, the beef also leads – 21.5kg, it is followed by lamb – 11.5kg, and minced meat – 4.4kg per person.

Among the main meat and bird products, the highest price as of April of 2018 was observed for half-smoked sausage – 1894.5 tenge, that is by 3.5% higher that in the beginning of the year, and by 9.4% higher that in the previous year.

Boiled sausage (1659.3 tenge, an increase of 2.3% from the beginning of the year, and of 8.2% over the year) and horse meat (1640.8 tenge, an increase of 3.1% from the beginning of the year, and of 9% over the year) are also among the most expensive meat products.

The price for the most popular beef (scapular-thoracic part) among the population is 1496.3 tenge per kilogram with an increase of 3% from the beginning of the year, and of 10.1% over the year.
