Mass media amendments strike on Kazakhstan image – Kazakh OSCE representative

Almaty. June 27. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakh special OSCE representative - First vice Minister of Foreign Affairs considers the government amendments to the legislation concerning mass media are negatively reflected on the image of the country, the agency reports.

"The government tries to introduce reactionary amendments to the law "On mass media." In this connection the present Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan makes one pompous statement after another … All these cases directly strike on the international image of Kazakhstan on the eve of acceptance of the important decision on presiding in OSCE," the First Vice Foreign Minister – special OSCE representative of Kazakhstan Rakhat Aliyev said in the interview to Deutsche Welle.

Kazakhstan OSCE special representative reminded that the Head of the State at the recent meeting on tolerance said that presidency in OSCE is one of the stages of realization of strategy to enter 50 the most competitive countries.

"In conditions of globalization it is impossible to hide information and it is very important what methods are used to put mass media under control," R. Aliyev added.
