Almaty. November 24. Kazakhstan Today - Vice President of Gazprom, Alexander Ananenkov, stated that the project design of the gas pipeline 'Altai' from Western Siberia to China, through the territory of the Republic of Altai is being considered, the agency reports with reference to the newspaper Izvestia.

"The future destiny of the project depends on the negotiations between Gazprom and the Chinese consumers."

Mr. Ananenkov said, "Agreeing on the price of the gas is the main problem now."

Gazprom and Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have not come to an agreement on the construction of the gas pipeline 'Altai' due to disagreements on pricing of the transportation of the gas.

Russia and China planned to begin deliveries from the 'Altai' gas pipeline in 2011, based on the agreed of transportation in 2006.

The overall length of the gas pipe line 'Altai' is 6.7 thousand kilometers, including the territory of the Russian Federation - 2.7 thousand kilometers and China - 4 thousand kilometers.
