Kazakhstan interested in purchasing Latvian seaports - Nazarbayev

Astana. July 19. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan is interested in purchasing of Latvian seaports and activization of investment cooperation, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the press conference after negotiations with his Latvian counterpart Vaira Vike-Freiberga on Tuesday in Riga.

"Kazakhstan already exports the capital. Last year volume of investments of Kazakh companies made $15 billion in foreign markets. Latvian trading ports are of great interest to Kazakhstan,” N. Nazarbayev stated.

Latvian President noted great opportunities for cooperation expansion with Kazakhstan. "Kazakhstan is the leading state in Central Asia. It is very important, that Kazakhstan considerably invests in development of human resources. We have potential for cooperation in IT sphere, education and the use of transit-transport potential," Vaira Vike-Freiberga told at the press conference.

Following the results of negotiations the Presidents of both countries adopted joint statement in which Latvian Republic confirmed its intention to support the nominee of Kazakhstan to preside over the OSCE. The Latvian party expressed readiness to render all-round support to Kazakhstan’s entry into WTO.
