OPEC does not plan to reduce oil extraction

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, Ali Al-Naimi, said the participants of the next session of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which will be held on May, 28th in Vienna, do not plan to consider reduction of oil extraction, the agency reports citing Russian mass media.

Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, Ali Al-Naimi, said the participants of the next session of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which will be held on May, 28th in Vienna, do not plan to consider reduction of oil extraction, the agency reports citing Russian mass media.

"There is no necessity to reduce extraction. We will keep the same rate," Al-Naimi said, having specified that the final position of OPEC will be known on Thursday. He also informed that demand for energy carriers has started to be restored.

It was decided not to reduce oil extraction quota at the last meeting of the organization, in the middle of March, 2009. Since September, 2008, the organization has reduced extraction by 4.2 million barrels per day and has implemented these decisions by 80 %.
