President of Kazakhstan held telephone conversation with Russian President

The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a telephone conversation with the Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev on Monday, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Almaty. April 5. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a telephone conversation with the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Dmitry Medvedev warmly congratulated the President of Kazakhstan on success of presidential elections and, based on the preliminary information, Mr Nazarbayev's strong victory, Russian mass media reported.

Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his appreciation of the kind wishes and sincere congratulations.

As informed earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev won Kazakhstan's election, taken place on April 3, with 95.5 percent of votes, chair of the Central Election Commission, Kuandyk Turgankulov, said.

Zhambyl Akhmetbekov, head of the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan, received 1.4 percent of the vote and pro-government Senator Gani Kasymov of the Party of Patriots 1.9 percent. Independent and environmentalist Mels Yeleusizov picked up 1.2 percent.
