RK MFA to take part in EU Forum - Safety in Central Asia

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, will take part in the work of the First EU Forum - Safety in Central Asia and Ministerial Consultations in Three EU - Central Asia format that will take place on September 17-18 in Paris. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed today during weekly briefing.

Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, will take part in the work of the First EU Forum - Safety in Central Asia and Ministerial Consultations in Three EU - Central Asia format that will take place on September 17-18 in Paris. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed today during weekly briefing.

According to Y. Ashikbayev, "Foreign Ministers of the countries of European Union and Central Asia, chairmen of the European Commission, OSCE, NATO, UN structural divisions, SCO, CSTO, EurAsEC, World Bank, Asian Bank of Development, and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development are expected to take part in the work of the forum.

"The main objective of the forum is development by December of 2008 of the project of the European Program of Cooperation in security, energy and ecology spheres in Central Asia," Y. Ashikbayev emphasized.

He noted that "in this context the forum will be held on the following thematic sections: struggle against drug trafficking, struggle against terrorism and its spread, energy and ecological safety."

"During the forum the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, M. Tazhin, will hold a number of bilateral meetings to discuss the questions representing mutual interest," Y. Ashikbayev concluded.
