Nazarbayev expressed condolences to the people of Iran over the earthquake

Two strong earthquakes occurred on Saturday near the city of Tabriz. One push of magnitude 6.4 was recorded 60 kilometers north-west of the city, and after 11 minutes at 49 kilometers to the north-west of the city a push of a magnitude of 6.3 was registered.

Kazakhstan Today - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a telegram of condolences to President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in connection with the earthquake in the province of East Azerbaijan, which resulted in human casualties, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"With deep regret I perceived the sad news about the earthquake in the province of East Azerbaijan, which caused numerous casualties. Sharing your grief on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf I express deep condolences to the families of the victims of the disaster, and the brotherly people of Iran," the President said in a telegram of condolences posted on the website of the President of Kazakhstan.

As a result, 250 people died, more than 1,800 injured. About 110 villages were affected: in Ahar district four villages were completely destroyed and 60 others destroyed by 50-80% in the district Varzakan (Varzaqan) 12 villages are completely destroyed.
