Nazarbayev suggests granting new powers to Senate

Astana. May 17. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the joint session of the Parliament on Wednesday suggested granting new powers to the Senate of the Parliament, the agency reports.

"It has been proposed to grant the Senate new power - performance of function of the Parliament on adoption of the laws during the time of Majilis temporary absence, for example, in connection with the pre schedule termination of its powers," N. Nazarbayev said.

According to the President, it has been suggested the Chairman of the National Bank is appointed with the Senate consent. "Such approach corresponds to the principle of independence of the National Bank at realization of monetary and credit policy of the state," N. Nazarbayev said.
