Pavlodar. January 22. Kazakhstan Today - Demand for Ekibaztuz coal will increase after creation of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. Chief executive of the Kazakhstan-Russian joint venture of Open Company Bogatyr Komir, Sergey Opanasenko, said in an interview to journalists, following the results of the expanded session of the working group for analysis and monitoring of a share of the local goods and services in the manufacturing sphere, the agency reports.

"The market of our coal is traditional. We do not expect sharp growth of volumes as it is connected with some features of coal and with the equipment that Russia uses.

"We have traditionally delivered abroad 50 % of coal, but, in connection with the crisis, we have lowered volumes of deliveries. The uniform customs space will allow us to carry out deliveries due to direct contracts with consumers."

According to S. Opanasenko, the competition will seriously increase among commodity producers of three countries with the beginning of functioning of the Customs Union from July, 2011.
