EU, Kazakhstan to discuss further prospects of cooperation

The European Union (EU) and Kazakhstan will hold two sessions of subcommittees on cooperation within the limits of the Agreement on partnership and cooperation between EU and Kazakhstan.

Astana. October 15. Kazakhstan Today - The European Union (EU) and Kazakhstan will hold two sessions of subcommittees on cooperation within the limits of the Agreement on partnership and cooperation between EU and Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, the sixth session of the subcommittee for justice and law and order will take place on October 16, 2007, and the ninth session of subcommittee for trade, investments, energy and transport will be held on October 17-18, 2007.

The EU chairman at the sessions will be the chairman of the representation of the European commission in Kazakhstan Adrian Van der Meer. The Kazakhstan party to preside over the session of the subcommittee for justice and law and order there will be General Public Prosecutor of Kazakhstan Merey Vaisov; and at the session of the subcommittee for commerce, investments, energy and transport - vice Minister of Industry and Commerce of Kazakhstan Zhanar Aytzhanova.

"During the meetings a wide range of questions within the limits of realization of the agreement on partnership and cooperation of EU-Kazakhstan and the new Strategy of EU for Central Asia will be considered. At the session of the subcommittee for justice and law and order the issues of migration, boundary control, struggle against terrorism and drug trafficking, money laundering, problems of judicial reform, as well as questions of leadership of the law and the effective government will be discussed," the message states.

The session participants of the subcommittee for commerce, investments, energy and transport will consider the issues of commerce, development of the process of Kazakhstan joining WTO, cooperation in the field of energy and transport, as well as the questions in the field of environment and investment climate in the country.
