OSCE Parliamentary Assembly urges its member countries to provide journalists' opportunity to do their work not being afraid of repressions or punishments, the text of Astana Declaration accepted today during the 17th annual OSCE PA session states, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - OSCE Parliamentary Assembly urges its member countries to provide journalists' opportunity to do their work not being afraid of repressions or punishments, the text of Astana Declaration accepted today during the 17th annual OSCE PA session states, the agency reports.

"The Assembly urges all the member countries to provide journalists the opportunity to perform their work not being afraid of repressions or punishments and ensure the right of journalists to conduct investigations and to write about any events including state bodies abuse cases," the text of the Declaration states.

"The Assembly confirms that journalists and the employees of mass media working in conflict zones should be considered as civilians, as those to be held in respect and protection.
