President signed law that prolongs period of issuing of documents with identification numbers

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the Republic of Kazakhstan law on the amendments to the acts concerning identification numbers, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

Astana. July 20. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the Republic of Kazakhstan law on the amendments to the acts concerning identification numbers, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

As informed earlier, this law has been initiated by a group of Majilis deputies. The deputies initiated amendments to the legislation, which assumes prolongation of the period of issuing of documents containing individual identification number (IIN) until January 1, 2012.

The deputies offered the amendment assuming re-registration of identity documents free of charge, at the expense of budgetary funds.

According to the Kazakhstan law on the national registers of identification numbers, in case of IIN absence, identification cards and passport of Kazakhstan citizens will be considered invalid from August 13, 2010.
