The preference of planes by Kazakhstanis has grown over trains. Passenger traffic by air grew by 14% per year, by rail - by 3%, energyprom.kz reports.
Generally, passenger transportation by rail exceeds air ones. According to the results of January-August 2018 - 13.2 against 4.6 million passengers, respectively.
However, the growth rate of passenger traffic in air transport is higher than that of the railway: for the last year the increase was 14.3% year-on-year against 2.6%; in the same period a year earlier - 21.3% for aviation and 1.5% for railway transport.
Railway passenger turnover is also higher compared to air transportation - 10.6 billion passenger-km versus 9.4 billion passenger-km for 7 months, respectively.
But the growth rate is higher for air transport: plus 18% year-to-year (a year earlier - plus 30%), with rail figures - plus 5% this year and plus 2.8% - in the previous.
In general, passenger transportation by all types of transport for January-July 2018 amounted to 13.1 billion people, which is 2.6% more than the same period a year earlier. The main volume falls on the automobile and city electric transport used daily for residents of the country - 99.9% of the total passenger traffic.
