More than 30 dead saiga with cut horns found in Kostanay area steppe
Kostanay. June 7. Kazakhstan Today - More than 31 dead saiga have been found in the south of Kostanay area. Director of Local Hunting Department informed the Regional Department of Internal Affairs of the Dzhangeldinsky region (the southern region of the area, bordering the Aktobe and Karaganda areas) on June 2, the agency reports citing the Department of Internal Affairs of the Kostanay area press service.
"The investigatory-operative group of the Regional Department of Internal Affairs visited the area on June 2. They found 31 decaying dead saiga with cut horns in 53 kilometers of the village to the west of Akkol village of the Dzhangeldinsky area in the steppe in salt marsh.
The Department of Internal Affairs informed that, after the inspection of sayga, the veterinarian did not see any signs of shooting. Dead sayga was scattered in the steppe. "We have taken two animals for further examination and burnt the others," the press service informed.
According to the chief of Kostanay regional territorial inspection of wood and hunting department, Marat Begimbetov, most likely, this is the case of mass poaching. All saiga had their horns cut.
Sayga is registered in the International Red Book.

Second wave of floods hits N Kazakhstan region
Due to the second wave of flooding, water level rose again with the overflow at 278 centimeters having increased by 21 centimeters," Kanat Duzelbayev said.
A number of villages in Kyzylzhar district and micro-districts Podgora, Kozhevenny, Zarechny, Kossogor are still under water, with 2,886 residential buildings affected by the flood.
