Amendments to mass media legislation adopted in first reading

Astana. June 29. Kazakhstan Today - Today at the plenary Senate session deputies adopted in the first reading the bill "On amendments and additions in some Kazakhstan mass media acts," the agency reports.

36 Senate deputies present at the Houses session voted unanimously. Senators made unanimous decision to debate the bill in the second reading today.

As it was informed earlier, the bill has been developed by the Ministry of Culture and Information. Amendments to the current legislation propose to include the norms establishing collection of fee for registering mass media. The norms of the bill extend the list of the bases for refusal to register mass media: fee non-payment, if mass media possesses the same title and thematic content.

The bill has been forwarded to the Senate profile committee to be prepared for the second reading.
