Law of demand: passengers' number grew down due to high fare

Top-priced cities of Kazakhstan are Astana, Kyzylorda and Ust-Kamenogorsk - 90 tenge for a ticket.
According to Ranking.kz in Kazakhstan, travel has risen in price for the year by an average of 12%, and the number of passengers - decreased by almost 4%.

Following the results of June, the average cost of travel by bus in the country was 75.2 tenge, which is 12.4% or 8.3 tenge more expensive than a year ago.

Most expensive travels are in Astana, Kyzylorda, and Ust-Kamenogorsk - 90 tenge for a ticket.

It should be reminded since July 21 a graded tariff has been introduced in Astana. According to the new conditions, the fare on public transport has doubled - up to 180 tenge - this is the highest figure in the country. However, if you pay by card, the price of the fare will remain at the previous level - 90 tenge. For beneficiaries, the conditions of transportation remain unchanged.

The same payment scheme earned in Almaty: when paying by card - 80 tenge, in cash - 150 tenge.

Bus passenger transportations are growing down. Thus, the number of passengers transported by buses decreased by 3.5% year-on-year (to 8.6 billion passengers) in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, in general, passenger transportation grew by 2.5%.

The share of bus transport from passenger traffic decreased from 91.8% in the 1st half of the year of 2017 up to 77% this year.

In addition, the passenger turnover is down: -4.7% per year, to 88.4 billion. In general, the passenger turnover in the country has grown by 5.5% for the year. Accordingly, the share of bus transportations from passenger turnover decreased year on year from 72.5% to 65.5%.

Last year, the number of passengers on buses decreased by 0.6%. Passenger turnover of buses fell by 6.4%.
