More than 80 mosques in Kazakhstan are empty - the Minister

Mosques are kept being constructed, but the possibility to maintain them is low, as a result they are sold, says the Minister.
In Kazakhstan, the construction of new religious buildings should be regulated, Minister of Religious and Civil Society Affairs of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev said at the expanded session of the Minister’s Board.

It is time to regulate the process of construction of religious buildings, including mosques. The mosque is a house of the Got for Muslims, and it should be clean and convenient. The building should be commensurate with the number of visitors and have a necessary infrastructure," the Minister said.

According to him, the Ministry receives complaints that mosques, churches remain unattended, many people visit them, they are built in crowded places, they do not have parking lots. The population complaints about noisy visitors and the sound of bells.

In some cases, it is considered that it is modern to build mosques. But, they do not take into account the fact that mosques do not have Imams, or the population could not maintain them. Good deeds involve not only the construction of mosques and churches. To date, about 3601 mosques operate in the country, 84 of them are empty," the Minister said.
