Kazakhstan and Finland Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Archival Affairs

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland Azamat Abdraimov met with Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Finland Paivi Happonen, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development and strengthening of international cooperation in the field of archival affairs, including the exchange of experience in the digitization of archival collections, the introduction of modern technologies for the storage of and access to documentary heritage.

Special attention during the negotiations was given to the prospects for establishing a systematic partnership between the Archive of the President of Kazakhstan and the National Archives of Finland. The parties discussed opportunities for implementing joint research and educational projects, organizing thematic photo exhibitions aimed at promoting the historical and documentary heritage of the two countries, as well as establishing regular exchanges of specialists to enhance professional qualifications and introduce advanced archival practices.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat presented the Finnish side with an official invitation to participate in the 3rd International Congress of Archivists, which will be held on 8-12 June 2026 in Astana.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Kazakhstan and Finland to deepen partnership in the archival sphere and preserve historical and documentary heritage for future generations.
