UNT threshold level to be increased

Almaty. March 20. Kazakhstan Today - The uniform national testing level will be increased this year up to 60 points. The Education Minister Zhanseyit Tuymebayev informed at the meeting in the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"Minimal level of UNT results for high schools admission will be raised from 50 up to 60 points," the Minister said. According to him, it is planned to increase the UNT level in medical high school, which was made 60 points last year.

By Z. Tuymebayev's forecasts, in 2007 the percentage of UNT participants will increase from 85.4 % up to 87 % and the mean score of UNT results in the Republic will presumably grow from 63.3 up to 65."

The Minister reminded that the Kazakh language would be included in the list of compulsory subjects of the uniform national testing since 2008.
